Project Background
| Client |
: |
A Major E&P Operator
|
|
Project
|
: |
Construction of a new offshore
production facility which included a fully integrated and
mechanised drilling module. |
| Situation |
: |
The projects’ manager had identified that the
critical path of the plan to First Oil was through the drilling
facilities.
|
Èpeus was asked to conduct an evaluation of the
project and in particular the strategy and approach to the drilling
facilities commissioning. Then to determine whether the project team
could achieve its targets and deliver First Oil by 7th January 2005.
The Findings
The review was conducted prior to commissioning commencing and
revealed that there was a less than 1% probability that the project
would achieve it’s target. After building and running the project risk
model a most probable realisation of first oil was on or around the 23rd
of February 2005.
Project Outcome
First Oil from this facility was announced on the 22nd February
2005 one day ahead of the predictions from the È-value-ator study
conducted at the end of the execution phase of the project.
È-value-ator has been designed specifically to
provide you with information about the approach of different and crucial
project entities and how that approach effects your project cost and
schedule.
