Mark is the Founder and Managing Director of the Èpeus Group of Companies and advises senior managers within the financial, exploration and production, energy, and marine industries on implementation of business strategy and economics of options related to their capital investment projects.

Mark has directly worked with and advised numerous companies on these issues while at Èpeus, including BP, Chevron, TAQA, Talisman, Total, EnQuest, Transocean, Noble Drilling, Seadrill, Diamond, Northern Offshore, Nabors, Odfjell, KCA Deutag, Seadragon, Dolphin Drilling, Pride International, Halliburton, and Drydocks World, ThyssenKrupp, as well as KPMG, HSBC, ABN Amro, Macquarie Group. Bridgehouse Capital, Morgan Stanley, and various smaller start-up exploration companies based in London and various law firms.

As an experienced and successful oil and gas industry professional, Mark's project knowledge and expertise is gained from managing and consulting on an extensive array of multi-million US dollar international projects.

Mark is also an experienced and courtroom tested dispute resolution professional and expert witness, with knowledge of mediation, litigation, and arbitration proceedings from large, complex contract claims.

Starting his engineering career in the Royal Navy, Mr Thompson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from The Robert Gordon University in 1992. He has also undertaken executive studies in Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management, Chicago, and Business Strategy at London Business School.

Mark has been involved in the international oil and gas industry since graduation in 1992 from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was initially employed by Transocean Inc., where he managed a number of global projects.

Mark is also a guest lecturer at Aberdeen University on its Masters (MSc) in Project Management degree courses in Project Risk Management and at The Robert Gordon University in its classes on Project Strategy and Maturity Modelling. He also lectures in business strategy development to industry peers and MBA post-graduate students at London Business School.
